Le Mas De Cinq Sous Provence

This is how you imagine your dream holiday in southern France: wake up to the first rays of sunshine, drink a café au lait in bed, have a long breakfast on the outside terrace, then head to the Provençal market of Saint-Remy to buy fresh fruit, vegetables and other delicacies. During the day, above all, do nothing, maybe take a dip in the natural pool, read a good book and take a nap to the sound of singing cicadas. In the evening, cook together in the perfectly equipped outdoor kitchen, then lounge at the cosy open fire place and watch the stars.

The charming and completely renovated manor house is located on a five-hectare estate in the Provence countryside with a unique view of the Alpilles mountains. The renovation work of the 250 sqm house and its fabulous garden took around two years. The idea was to create a luxurious yet authentic retreat that pays tribute to its architectural and cultural heritage. For more than 40 years, the Swiss painter Georges Item lived here, and it has always been a meeting place for writers, poets, artists and musicians. A house to come together, to exchange ideas, to eat and laugh together.

With the support of Bosc Architects and local craftsmen, the owners have succeeded in preserving the history of the house with great attention to detail: traditional materials were used, which, together with high-quality stones and unique furniture, make up the unmistakable charm of this modernised Provençal manor house. Guests can expect a first-class equipped eat-in kitchen with high ceilings, a cosy living room with fireplace and four light-flooded and spacious suites with en-suite bathrooms. Particularly impressive, however, are the outdoor facilities with various terraces, seating and lounge areas, a pétanque court under the pine trees, a table tennis table and a vegetable garden. Sustainability plays a particularly central role here: for example, a natural pool was created rather than an ordinary one, which functions naturally through the combination of certain bacteria and aquatic plants without any chemicals at all and offers excellent water quality. The bathrooms also use only local herbal products from the Végétalement Provence brand.
