Villa Cactus, Comporta, Portugal
A blissful place for Comporta lovers
At the luxury vacation home Villa Cactus in Carvalhal you’ll embody the Comporta lifestyle by floating into the blissful beauty of simplicity.
Walk the untouched beaches and gaze upon the lush green rice paddies from your terrace. Count falling stars at night and wake up in the morning to the clatter of storks. That`s what life is about in this place. Capturing the much-beloved Comporta feeling depends on how open you are to surrendering the habits of your every day life. This house, designed by Portuguese architect Miguel Câncio Martins and furnished by interior designer Alexandre Neimann is the perfect place to begin your practice of slowing down.
The thatched-roof huts are luxurious, yet simple, and the property is adeptly designed to lengthen your gaze outward, to the vista beyond four walls. Once outside, enjoy the swimming pool with sundeck or the flowering garden full of cacti, palm trees, radiant climbing plants and shining bougainvillea. The open kitchen is adorned with unique Portuguese tiles. The spacious living room is furnished with various unusual antiques as well as a large fireplace. There are two double bedrooms and a master suite with a double bed, each with their own bathroom. Each window is screened against insects. One of the special features of this elegant cabana home are the high ceilings, which create an airy, free feeling of the outdoors even from within.
Comporta ambassador Carlos Souza described Villa Cactus in the 2018 coffee table book “Comporta Bliss”.
The color palette in Francois Simon´s home is very calm, warm, and soothing on the eyes, and it makes a great contrast to the rice fields and fabulous views the house offers, being on top of the vast terrain filled with verdant rice in the summer months. The use of local straw and wicker and contemporary shapes gives a modern feel to this chic and elegant home.
Enjoy this charismatic villa with your family or a group of friends. The property is suitable for adults and children who can swim, as the swimming pool is open and unfenced.
