Venice with Kids – Hotels, Tips & To-Do´s
Why Venice?
It’s the classic European city break for good reason. The history, breathtaking architecture, winding canals, brooding cathedrals, sensational art and charming places to stay add up to one thing: a fabulous cultural escape for couples, and a brilliant adventure for children. And we’ve not even mentioned the food...
Niche Junior says
We value our kids opinions - which is why we introduced Niche Junior, giving our little travellers a platform:
Venice is like a labyrinth. You think you’re going the right way and then suddenly there’s a canal in the way and you have to retrace your steps. Taking a private gondola was really expensive so we just spent a few Euro on the public ‘Traghetto’, the public ferry. It was such a great experience!
– Lina, 8, from Denmark
Why is Venice perfect for families?
First things first: when taking your family to Venice visit off season (we love October and April) to avoid the hordes. Away from the blockbuster sites, check out the Cannaregio district, a local neighbourhood with great little places to dine and drink, such as Osteria Anice Stellato and the ideal and tranquil playground to take your children to explore authentic Venice. Take an atmospheric stroll on the beach alongside Hotel des Bains on the Lido. Watch fresh fish being unloaded early in the morning at the Rialto fish market, then head around the corner with Venetians heading for work for an early espresso at one of the best coffee bars in Venice, Caffe del Doge.
