Why Lake Garda?

Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake, connecting the steep alpine landscape in the north with the calmer Po valley in the south. The shoreline of Lake Garda is divided between the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trento.

Due to its sheer size the lake is exceptionally diverse and offers a wide range of activities for families. It is a heaven for outdoor enthusiasts but also for those who like to discover its incomparable history and ancient archeological sites. Get a fascinating glimpse into the life of one of Italy’s greatest poets Gabriele D`Annunzio at the Vittoriale degli Italiani – an impressive museum surrounded by parks and gardens on the western shore of Lake Garda. Or visit the 13th-century Castello Scaligero in the village of Malcesine on the eastern shore, where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was briefly imprisoned during his famous ”Italian journey” in 1786. Historical monuments, castles and fortresses can be discovered everywhere around the lake. Looking like it has been built for a movie set, do not miss to visit the picturesque town of Sirmione.

Why is Lake Garda perfect for families?

Easily reachable by plane, train or car from abroad - Lake Garda offers great options of fun activities for the whole family. Striking medieval castles, gorgeous lakefront villages and exciting kid-friendly museums. Take a family beach time in Bardolino and try the best Italian ice cream. Its terrain gives the lake a wide variety of attractions for sports enthusiasts: from steady winds for sailing and windsurfing at the surfer's paradise of Torbole, to exhilarating mountain hikes and mountain biking - all with stunning lake views.

There are many different activities to choose from. A special experience is certainly a guided tour with the SUP board to the Ponale waterfall, which is only accessible via the lake or a trekking tour at sunset to Monte Stivo, one of the highest and loveliest viewpoints over Lake Garda, accompanied with a dinner made of local products at the mountain refuge.
