Cavalariça Comporta

A renovated stable with historic charm, two cross-country skiers from Lisbon who perfected their culinary artistry in London, one ambitious investor, and a focus on local produce – this is Cavalariça Comporta’s five star recipe for success. Head Chefs Filipa and Bruno and their well-trained team will delight you with their fusion of Portuguese-Asian tapas, cool drinks, and exquisite oysters sourced from a farm tucked away in the Sado estuary. In summer, a reservation is a must.

FOOD & DRINK
Restaurante Sal

The quintessential dining spot on Pego Beach with a magnificent view of the sea. Certainly the fanciest beach restaurant you’ll find in the area. There are plentiful dishes on offer, and the wide selection of fish and shellfish is unbeatable. There is even a small boutique. Relaxed, exuberant atmosphere. Make a reservation in July and August! If there’s no table at Sal, head next door to the kiosk on the beach for a sandwich and freshly squeezed juice.

FOOD & DRINK
Sem Porta

The restaurant’s architecture is inspired by the historic rice storage facilities, and enacted by José Alberto Charrua and Miguel Câncio Martins. The food follows the seasons and local traditions, led by Chef Tiago Santos. Santos uses regional products to ensure that the richness of each ingredient is highlighted, and works with local fishermen and wineries, with a preference for organic whenever possible. Tiago Santos was recently the head chef at Bar Douro in South London, as well as Michelin rated restaurants such as The Yeatman, and now heads Sem Porta as well as the Food Circle Experience.

FOOD & DRINK
Gomes Casa de Vinhos & Petiscos

Comporta’s new tapas bar opened its doors in early 2018 and is owned by Carlos Gomes, of Mercearia Gomesthe sole luxury supermarket in town. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and the food and wine is top shelf. Sample a selection of the Portuguese tapas: petiscos. Highly recommended: the codfish salad and the bulhão pato (clams with beans) in white wine sauce with garlic and coriander.

FOOD & DRINK
Food Circle and Com Brasa

This summer there are two new dining experiences at Sublime. The experimental restaurant – Food Circle – an incredible dining experience in the middle of the organic garden, where the chef cooks with fire only.
Then there is Com Brasa, which is a more relaxed, Comporta-style barbeque experience at a long table. Enjoy grilled meats, fish and vegetables all prepared to perfection on the terrace in front of the owner’s villa.

O Dinis Restaurante dos Pescadores

DINIS Restaurante dos Pescadores
The place to be on Carvalhal Beach. This oceanside restaurant is a bit more humble than the Sal, but also offers excellent seafood and a grand outdoor terrace. It’s the ideal place to watch the surfers in action, or to relax and rejuvenate after riding some waves of yourself! The terrace staircase descends directly down to the beach, so this is the ideal place for parents with restless children.
